LAKEFRONT BREWERY
I was a proud employee of Lakefront Brewery 2015-2020 where I was a tour guide, and bottle and keg filler. I’ve also had the great opportunity to do all sorts of art projects for the brewery and continue to do work for them today,
MY TURN PORTRAITS
Every three months, Lakefront honors a full-time employee with their MyTurn series in which the employee gets to brew their own style of beer and watch as it is enjoyed in bars and liquor stores across the city. Below you can see the portraits I have made for their labels and signage.
BERNIE BREWER
Through my childhood, my parents would take me to Milwaukee Brewers baseball games at County Stadium. My favorite part was watching the antics of mascot Bernie Brewer. He would hang out in a chalet high up by the scoreboard and slide down a trap-door slide into a giant foamy beer mug every Brewer’s home run and victory. When County Stadium was demolished in 2000 to make room for Miller Park, Lakefront bought both chalets (1973 and 1993) along with the iconic beer mug at an auction. About 20 years later, I find myself beautifying and modernizing the chalets and beer mug that I so loved as a child. Today Bernie’s mug is one of the most photographed places in Milwaukee, next to the bronze Fonz. I also had the honor of creating the “History of Bernie Brewer” poster.
BUILDING DRAWING
In the summer of 2018, co-founder Jim Klisch asked me to make an updated version of the brewery drawing with the new front ramp, three stooges, and kegnado. One year later I simplified it to print on t-shirts. Contact me for a poster. T-shirts are available in the gift shop!
TRACKS ANNIVERSARY BARREL
Lakefront wanted to give Tracks a gift, this oak brandy barrel, celebrating their 50th anniversary and the beautiful bond of business for the last 30 years. After some research, I discovered Tracks got it’s name because the building was built on the Beerline Trail, a railroad line that ran along the Milwaukee River transporting beer, leather, and other exports diagonally through the Riverwest neighborhood and Northwest out of the city. Lakefront Brewery used to be a coal-fire power plant back in its day, providing electricity to Schlitz Brewery and the rail cars running on the Beerline. I thought it would be cool to illustrate this geographical connection that goes back in time by showing the two locations on a map on top of the barrel.
